AMERICAN: BOURBON -KY

Bourbon whiskey lays claim to being "America's spirit". Although bourbon may be made anywhere in the US, it is strongly associated with the American South and Kentucky in particular. By law, to be called Bourbon, it must be produced in the US from at least 51% corn, stored in new charred-oak barrels and be no less than 80% proof.

CANADIAN

Flag Canada.png

Most Canadian whiskies are blended multi-grain liquors containing a large percentage of corn spirits; they are typically lighter and smoother than other whisky styles. Often referred to as "rye whisky", Canadian whisky is generally made with only a small amount of (flavorful) rye grain and is stylistically much different from the traditional US rye.

IRISH

Flag Ireland.png

Irish whiskey, once the most popular alcoholic liquor in the world, has survived a long period of decline and has globally been the fastest-growing spirit since the late 20th century. The Irish share in the claim of inventing whiskey with the Scots; their whiskey however answers to specific key requirements set by the Irish government. There are currently 25 distilleries in Ireland with plans for 24 more.

Flag Japan.png

JAPAN

Whisky production in Japan began around 1870, but the first commercial whisky distillery (Yamazaki) opened in 1924. Japan has since then earned its place among the great whisk(e)y producing cultures. Japanese whisky is more similar to Scotch, focused on single-malt and blended-malt styles. It sets itself apart with creative and artistic interpretations, while maintaining respect for tradition.
